I am looking for step-by-step instructions to remove weapons from an existing HL2DM map specifically designed for the configuration impaired......or challenged. (Mods for Dummies)

Hey carl3c, From what I understand you want to take a weapon out of a HL2DM map? I'd be happy to help you out, but could you be a bit more specific?

OK...I want to remove the RPGs from some of the maps I have on the server (source dedicated) and want to limit the weapons to only a pistol on another.  They are maps that I have downloaded from the internet (island17, clock, rebar_b6, etc.)  I have never attempted to alter the .cfg files, only console commands (novice).

Hey carl3c, check out our Mashup Studio. You can add maps, characters and weapons to a mashup, which you can share with your friends. You can specify weapon spawns inside maps and tweak weapon settings to your liking.

Can you download the map to your server after the modification?  Or does it stay on Gameflood?  I would like to modify most of them and return them to my server so we can use them for Team Deathmatch Games.

Sure, once you create your mashup login to GameFlood from the computer you want to use as a server. Navigate to your mashup and click the host button. The files will automatically download and your server will be started for you.

OK, let me get this straight in my own head....I modify the map I want in Mashup Studio and then access the Studio from my server.  The map will automatically download to the server using the host command.  Now the tricky part: is the server accessing the game directly from the Mashup Studio or is the map loaded onto the computer itself?  If I keep a line open to the Mashup Studio then my bandwidth will be narrowed and lag will occur.  If the map is loaded directly on my computer I can run the map independent of GameFlood and the bandwidth will not be affected.  Basically, is the map mine or GameFloods, after I modify it?  I'm temporarily running a four man server through Steam (source dedicated server) on a dinosaur laptop (Latitude 450 w/512max) so I don't have any excess memory or processor speed to mess with.  I have to use the sv_unlag 1 console command to get some of the slower guys to operate decently so the smallest deviation will affect their performance.

Hey Carl3c, Take a look at this mashup I made a while back. Simply click the play button and the files will automatically download, install and launch the game. If you viewed that page from your game server and selected the host option, the mashup will be downloaded, installed, and launched automatically. If you wanted others to join your server, send them a link to your mashup and they will be able to connect to your game server.

The server will not authorize my download to your mashup.

I was informed by the Steam forum that if you enter into the server.cfg:

sv_cheats 1
ent_remove_allweapon_rpg
sv_cheats 0

This command should remove all rpgs from the maps I load onto the source dedicated server (so they say) and I should not have to enter it every time I load the server, correct?

Can you give me instructions on how to do this? Is this the correct format? I have no idea how to access the server.cfg or where to type this in.

I found a way to remove weapons from the existing maps.  Download .NET 1.1 utility and install. Then download ented.exe and open the map.  You can find the weapons to remove and delete all the loc., angle and any other commands surrounding it.  Make sure the brackets are lined up again and save it with a name extension.  You don't even have to make a new map.  You can also replace the weapon with one of your own choice. This utility only works on .bsp. Thanks for all your help.
