Welcome to Workshop Forum

In addition to all of the game content and mashup functionality GameFlood offers, we've also spent quite a bit of time and effort creating the Workshop.  Workshop allows teams, be it one person or twenty, to create projects and manage their workflow for any job they're working on.  We give you forums, file version control, messaging systems and more.  Please click on the workshop link and have a look.  I'll be moderating this forum to answer any questions you might have.

Hi,

I made a test project and encountered some issues or things I believe are missing.

I use FireFox 1.5.0.4

General:

-I currently have only one member in my project (me) but when I go to Team > Members and set my Desired Skills to two things then the main Projects > Projects > Test Project page says I have two members in my project. If I add another Desired Skill I already have three members according to the main page.

Bugs and Tasks:

-Perhaps give the 1, 2 and 3 priorities a red or orange font? Its currently easy to look over those very important prio 1, 2 and 3 bugs.

-I marked a bug as done but afterwards there is no clear indication that the bug is done. A big fat green Completed or something in that style could help.

-If I try to upload a file theres a drop down box "upload up to 4 files". I cant change the option. No change occurs when I select for example 3 files.

-Other bug tools often have several more options such as a "Build" option and a "Department" option as well as a "Type of bug".

"Build" stands for the version it occurred in such as "Our press demo" or "v421". It is arguable if mods really need this tho.

"Department" can mean two things. Either you can give the bug an option like "this is an audio bug" ,"level bug" and so on and/or perhaps you can let the leader link certain types of bug to certain teammembers by default. For example, someone posts a level bug and since I am the Lead Level guy I automatically receive an email about the bug. I can then see which of my level designers has the time and skill to fix the bug and reassign the bug to that person.

Apart from that it might help if the everyones job is behind their name on the Assigned To dropdown box. For example: Hourences - Lead Level Design. Just so its more clear to who you got to assign the bug.

"Type of bug" gives you the options to determine what kind of bug it is. Is it an enhancement? A minor bug? Or is it rather serious? Or perhaps even critical and a blocker to the game? A Class "A" bug. It is similar to priorities but has some other advantages. Especially the "Blocker" option should be included imo. If the bug is so serious that it kills the game it should be very clear that it should be fixed right away, above other prio 1 bugs.

I know there is an option to add custom fields to the form, which is very nice btw, but I believe some more default options could be nice.

The workshop feature is very nice but I think the biggest thing that is missing is a type of scheduling tool or since that might be a little over the top for most mod teams a simple yet effective calendar might also get the job done.
As far as I can see there is currently no real way to set milestones or to make it clear to your teammembers there are only two months left before the mod needs to be done. Or you can add holidays or other important info to it.

Unrelated to the workshop but I find the text area on the reply page of all the forums (including this one) to be rather small. There is only a small strip of about 8 lines high I can type in. It makes me claustrophobic.

Regarding the team member issues, I believe this is a bug, I noticed it today.  I think what it's doing is adding a team member for each skill that you as the project owner as.  If you have an open position for a skill you have, I think it's adding a team member for each of those, even if you haven't selected that as one you want to use.  We will look into this.

I'd like a button to 'invite' people from the "teams and roles" section of the workshop tab without having to surf to their profile and add them exclusively through their profile.

Hey Paul,

I'm trying to invite people to my project but can't invite people to the project until they've created a profile. Is this on purpose.

Currently, they have to create the developer profile before they can be invited.  They also have to have skills that relate to an open position on your project.  We're working on making this a little more user friendly, it can be a little cumbersome right now.

How do I change the team requirements of my project after creation? I realize I forgot to add a few people and skill sets. For isntance, I need an audio position.

It would be cool if the project "web-page" creation section actually generated HTML code for you based on your forums, reports, project roster, item completion, bug tracking and

This web-page would be a simple report of what's happening and who's doing it. You could limit being able to edit the contents so that's it's just displaying information in a much simpler format, where all the workshop tabs are a click away. It could be easier to navigate than the current game-flood projetc interface by not having all the opptiosn for editing or support.
The Workshop Tabs
workshop Home (with the cool graphic we made)
Tasks and Bugs
Forums
Files
Teams and Roles
Reports

Or even if you could which of the workshop modules would be on the final web-page.

We've got a bug in the system that won't let you add new positions to a project once you've already assigned team members to the project.  Known issue that we are working on now, I'll let you know when it's resolved.

I tried to upload a huge zip file (1 gig) containing a pre-built version of boost and the page died on me.  I didn't get an error though, it just returned an empty page after the upload was done.  I don't see the file anywhere in my project either and the available space didn't change, so I can only assume the file was to large to handle.

We've just added a new u/l system, complete with an u/l progress bar.  It makes uploading files a much easier process, and should make it more clear if something goes wrong.
